Hello guys. Yesterday our concurrent filing I-130 and I-485 package got returned to us with a NOA saying we filed an outdated version of form I-485. Everything got sent back to us including the uncashed money order that was attached. About the form (I 485), it was our mistake, we used the one they updated last year but was later removed from the USCIS website. It is expiring in July this year so we thought that was the right form. NOA just says we should resubmit the right version of form I-485, and will do just that.

But the question I have is if we have to reprint and sign again the rest of the the forms, or should we just focus on form I-485 and resubmit the other forms with no changes. Also, our medicals (I-163) came back opened from the sealed envelope. So I’m not sure if that means we have to re-do the medicals or just have the doctor that did them reseal the envelope. Thanks

I don't see why you can't reuse the in-date and already filled forms. The alternative (reprinting and refilling the same stuff) seems entirely redundant to me. Not sure about the medical though.

👐

Patience......patience.

It seems redundant to me too. Will just work on the form in question and resend the reuse the rest of the forms. Thank you for your response.

Hi. I saw someone in a similar situtation as yours in this forum. What people suggested to them was that he would put the NOA on top of the new application so that they could see it was the USCIS itself that opened the medical.

When did you file I485 ? I'm trying to understand why they sent it back saying it was old because they did not update that form until at least February this year as I had to use an old version also.

Forms don't expire.   They go by edition date in bottom left corner

YMMV

Hi, thank you. Yes I will just put the NOA on top of the new application 👍🏽. I’m sure the form you used is the right one. The one we used had an expiry date of 07/31/2021. And that’s the wrong one. So, you should be okay.

This is what you need to use.

03/10/21. Starting April 19, 2021, we will only accept the 03/10/21 edition. Until then, you can also use the 10/15/19 edition. You can find the edition date at the bottom of the page on the form and instructions.

Dates are listed in mm/dd/yy format.

YMMV

The same thing happened to me and my AOS packet was returned to me for the exact same reason as you. I returned it with the same supporting documents. I reprinted all the forms, including the latest edition of I-485.  I called USCIS twice to verify if I could reuse the supporting documents and they said they are good to use.

Submitted back with the NOA copy and now it  has been 3 weeks since resubmission.

Good. I hope you will hear from them soon. It should be okay this time around. I will resubmit mine next week. Best of luck 😊

lucky you got your money back, for me, they took the money and denied my petition and now they are saying that my wife should get ready to leave the U.S.

Oh I’m sorry for what happened with your case. I hope you find your way around it. Best of luck

I want to ask though, were you told by  USCIS to reprint all the forms not just the one that was in error? Or you did that from your decision? I’m trying to establish if I have to reprint all the other forms too.

You do not need to reprint everything- just whatever was wrong. Of course you can reprint it all if you want. When a package gets returned it often is rearranged or has stamping or printing on some of the pages- which makes some people nervous to send it back with such markings already on it. Its not a problem to send back such stuff but its your choice. They dont care either way.

So your choices are to either prepare a new package (from scratch) with everything 'brand new' including a sealed medical- or- send back what they directed you to the exact way they directed you. Here is an old thread that has some pics attached.

I am assuming you got a similar package back with a specific sheet of instructions. So again either follow the instructions exactly as they told you or toss the whole thing out and start from scratch.
