My husband doesn't speak his own language, although he once told me what 'I love you' was in Dutch. I've forgotten though. The only terms of endearment he uses are in English. Usually 'my lovely wife' or 'my lioness'. The latter is a bit weird, but it's due to a lion costume I wear for children's events.

Oh man, there's gotta be a story behind that....

Well, commonly we both use Schatzi (treasure, I think is the real definition) or Schnuki (uh...sweety?).

There are quite a few more in German, but I'll keep those to myself :-)

Oh I forgot! I don't know if this is a term of endearment, but I pretty much only call him "redhead" in Portuguese, only his real name if I need to get his attention. And then I use his anglicized "Rey" version of his name so he doesn't laugh at my pronunciation of his real name.

awwwwww. Everyone is so lovey-dovey.

My husband calls me your highness sometimes which always grabs my attention because it sounds very formal. And he uses it in third person sometimes. Like " How can I say no to her highness?" or "Anything that your highness wants." So, I guess that is my favorite, just because it is different.

But of course we have the babe, baby, boo, honey, sweetheart, etc.

He uses: alby (my heart), hayati, 3mry(my life), kenzi(my treasure), ghawarty(my diamond), meraty(my wife), 3asl(honey), gamil(beautiful), etc.

All of the standards in English and Arabic.

What is your favorite Term of Endearment that your foreign SO calls you and what does it mean?

There are a few that my fiancée calls me, the first is in Thai, teerak. I just love the way it sounds when she say it. It means darling.

The second will be kinda hard to spell out, I have no idea so I'll do it phonetically, "bedai", it is Khmer for husband and when she says it with my name, it melts me.............

Let's here from the rest of you, I'm curious.

She has called me teerak, though many times it is just "honey." I call her my Siamese kitten.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
