TB X-ray for medical + Covid recovery?

Despite being cautious all year, I contracted Covid recently and am still in the middle of it. Of course it looks like going by the dates, we're next in line to have our CR-1 Interview at Montreal in February, which means I'd need my medical this month.

Has anyone done their chest x-ray for visa medical shortly after recovering from Covid? I'm concerned that it could show up similar to TB and trigger a delay. I will be bringing proof of my test results just in case.

I’m no doctor but I’m pretty sure that the medical staff can tell the difference on an X-ray between TB on the lungs and the effects of COVID-19. There are other tests they can do to see if it’s TB if there is some uncertainty (sputum tests, for example).

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

I'm afraid that proving you had Covid will not prevent a more definitive diagnostic procedure if the X-ray looks like possible TB.  Good luck.

Sorry to hear you're still sick. I hope you make a full recovery soon.

Unfortunately, with this disease being so new and unpredictable, no one can answer your question until your medical exam is done and the chest x-ray is evaluated by a doctor.

Once your medical is done, and if you're comfortable sharing the information, please do update us here, as it may be helpful to others in the same situation.

Being in the medical field, (specifically radiology) the x-ray images differences  between active TB and Covid + are very distinct. The reading Radiologist would be able to tell the difference. Make sure you do have your pcr covid testing certificate to show you are cleared too.

Ptitchou,

I hope you are recovering and that everything is well. I wanted to ask you since you have your interview date scheduled in February,

when was it that NVC gave you an ok that all your documents are in and now just wait for an interview ? We have been waiting since June 2020, and I wanted to know which month you were waiting from.

thanks ! It will really help me gain some peace of mind.

Thanks. Unfortunately not yet recovered. I've got a long road ahead and don't wish this on anyone!

I don't actually have my interview date yet. I just expect to have it scheduled soon because the DQ date (NVC accepted) of the last people to be scheduled in Montreal was May 19 and my date was May 22.

It's all going to depend on your country's consulate.
