Detroit Biometrics: Can my husband go with me inside the building?

Has anyone been to Detroit for their biometrics? Is there a parking outside the building? Since I can't bring my phone with me inside, there's no way for me to contact my husband when I'm done with it. Can he just join me inside the building?

Hopefully someone who has completed biometrics or other processing in Detroit will come along and give a complete answer. A quick look at the USCIS Detroit Field Office on Google Maps on Jefferson St. shows ample parking. If your husband is allowed in the building is another matter. Good Luck)

Not a newbie but lost my old info years ago) I have been through this process before --all the way through naturalization-- This site has always been a great help to me.

My wife did her biometrics at the Detroit Field Office and i was with her inside the building, this was pre-covid shutdown though. However your husband should still be allowed to accompany you.

  • There is a parking lot so no need to worry about that, it's not large but there is ample parking available and you won't lose your husband in it if he is not allowed in.
  • You are not prohibited from bringing your phone into the building, just make sure it is set to silent
  • Be prepared to take your shoes/coat/belt/ect. off as it's airport style security.
  • Make sure you wear a mask that does not have the exhaust ports on it or you will be turned away, you will also have to answer 4 health questions.
  • You will be directed once through security, you will then check in and sit in a waiting lobby to fill out a biometrics form then wait to be called. The biometrics is done in a separate room so your husband can wait in the lobby area for you.
