I am from sacramento, CA.  I started my first 130 processing back on 2017 and got its approval only on 2019. Then, I submitted i485 family based adjustment of status form on july  2019 and got update saying “your case is ready to schedule

For Interview “ on february 12/2020. Since then I haven’t got any updates about interview. My husband was only permanent resident when we started processing but now he is citizen . So do we need to update  the processing based on his citizen for quick outcome or no. Please help

with some guidelines.

Your I-485 is still within normal processing times for Sacramento: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

12 Months to 35.5 Months

I think you definitely have to do something about it because he is a citizen now. My friend had the same case and I'm sure she did change something when her husband became a citizen. Can't give you any specifics, maybe someone will. Or consult a lawyer.

Not for AOS. That would only be a thing for consular processing cause it would change the visa category but it's not a concern for AOS.

Sure you can call and give them a heads up but it's not needed.

1. The category still matters for aos (example: certain things invalidate adjustment for spouse of LPR that are forgiven for spouse of USC)

2. i am not sure about it not mattering time wise as service centers provide different dates for IR and F2 categories. In some cases processing is significantly faster for i130s for spouses of USC vs those of LPR according to uscis processing times website.

I think OP should notify uscis of the change in spouse’s status, if for nothing else for the sake of accuracy. There is only upside to doing so, worst case nothing changes.

Oh yes, you're so right. I forgot about that. OP could benefit from changing sponsors status 🙈
