Hello vj experts,

I would like to think my case is pretty straightforward with no red flags. However, the public charge truly scares me as we are relying on a joint sponsor who is my mother. as I have no income of my own college student. will this affect approval or anything of that sort? 

also we decided to have an out of state wedding. Once admitted is it possible to go on a plane domestically or would the AOS,EAD,Travel document be required? As I know the k-1 is a one time entry into the USA.

It would be considered in the totality of the circumstances. But a qualified co sponsor has been used in similar cases many times without issue.

On a practical level, what's the plans to cover general living expenses?

 

Within the first 90 days of entry, you can travel domestically perfectly fine. You're in status. Just do not leave the US as the K-1 visa is single use.

After the 90 days (if you haven't filed for AOS yet for some reason...avoid this!), you could probably fly domestically fine as well, but there is increased risk of running into enforcement compared to just sitting home.

I am a single parent of 3 she files us on her taxes for the past 3 years. I do not work but get ssi for a child of mine. however I am in college and I am graduating May 2021 which the plan is for me to automatically work after that.

 

however everyday expenses my mother will be helping us with.

You won't have to prove your income before then most likely. Right now it's taking about 6 or 7 months to even get the petition approved and then after that it can take a couple months to get an appointment for an interview. So it's likely you will already have a job by then

Totality of the circumstances means they look at everything and make a decision if the visa application is likely to become a public charge or not.

So not being employed and not having a working history is a negative factor. Being young and in college are positive factors (age/education).

Having a suitable co sponsor is a positive.

Your SO's circumstances are also considered...like age, working history, education, etc.

The CO considers everything.
