Hello everyone,

I have already applied for a K1 visa for my fiancée and due to covid 19, they have not yet sent my application to Canada. We were supposed to also get married this past August but due to the Covid 19 cases being so high in the US I was not granted access to travel. On the other hand my Fiancee is allowed to come into the United States. I was wondering how it might affect my case if she was to come into the united states and we get married. Would that just make my case longer? anyone with information to clarify would be much appreciated. thank you

If you marry the K1 is over.  You will need to file a petition for a spousal visa.

Would that not make me wait even longer for her to get a visa?

It will make it much longer.  And she will need to return to Canada while it is processing.  She can visit, but not live here until she has an immigrant visa.

We have the same issue and we suppose to get married tomorrow lol.  If we gonna get married in US we have give up the K1 and wait for new timeline which is about 1 year and 3 months.

closer to 18+ months for Canadian beneficiaries right now.

Due to COVID, mine's been even longer. My Canadian beneficiary and I have not lived together yet. We were married in Dec 2018, applied for IR1 in Jan 2019, and have been in process 21 months. We are waiting for the interview letter now, but still a few months out. Our CR1 may become an IR1 before he's actually approved. We've been a couple for 10 years and visited regularly while dating, while engaged, while married, and throughout the visa application processes. Though our visit timings are much different now due to COVID.
