That I needed a valid stamp to continue to receive unemployment benefits due to covid. 
Not strictly true in as much as they haven’t asked for a new stamp when it expires, but they did absolutely require a scan of a valid stamp when I first filed. 
I am also planning on travel in a few months, and well, because I damn well want one. I feel more comfortable having one, and by law I am entitled to one (could be argued required to have one).

The unemployment reason was accepted as valid, didn’t have to email anything in. 

 

You could try that, or easier just say you have imminent emergency travel for family reasons. 

Book a fully refundable flight if they require proof, then cancel it without penalty. 
 

 

Also: walk ins. Difficult pre-covid, despite many many attempts . I’d imagine that is not going to happen now. But by all means try if you have the time.

In these covid times walk in is a little no. I had a hard time getting in when I had an emergency appointment, I can't imagine them allowing walk ins. I'm not sure why they are giving you such a hard time I got an appointment when offices weren't even open -heights of pandemic in April- I'd suggest you keep trying. And if you're desperate enough, the worst that could happen with a walk in is they don't allow you in but at least you tried.

Yeh, i am gonna go tomorrow and lets see, what they do. At least I wont regret it that I didnt try, I have all my paperwork with me. Did they let you in for walk ins or you have to schedule over the phone?

So without confirmed appointment security doest let you in, doesnt matter its Emergency or whatever, they have instructions to let through people with appointments only. I went on my appointment day a little earlier and they sent me back and asked me to come only 15 minutes earlier. After clearing the security there was another officer was confirming appointments outside the office (2nd floor) and he matched my appointment time and name and then let me go inside the office. Then 3rd checkpoint where my picture was taken and scanned my both hands index fingers and verified my expired Green card and then finally I was in the line for my turn. Officer didnt ask anything, just requested my Valid Passport and GC (which she confiscated after giving me I-551 Stamp on my passport (valid for a year) The whole process barely took less than 5 minutes and even asked about my case status which she checked and asked me to expect a combo interview in coming months. She said system has requested Bio-metrics for N-400 and you are in line for finger scans. The whole Crew at Sacramento USCIS Office was nice and they greeted nicely plus they were helpful throughout the process. I hope it helps

Finally got a new passport stamp at Las Vegas field office. They are very strict about appointments...don't bother arriving more than 15 minutes early. The agent was very nice when I asked if she could please make the stamp valid for 1 year. She could not confirm if I would have an interview anytime soon as they are extremely backlogged for interview appointments.

 

When I asked about making an enquiry once my file is out of normal processing time, the agent said an enquiry will not speed anything up or bring my file forward. The wait continues...

Hi, I'm experiencing the same issues trying to get an Infopass appt for I551 stamp.  My wife's extension letter expires in less than 30 days.  When I called in Aug I was told to call again within the 30 day window.  Now I'm reading a lot of posts about now it's a 10-day window versus 30 days.  Monday I called the 800 # 3x and waited like an hour to speak to an agent.  On the call I was told that another agent (Tier 2 I'm guessing) will call me back from a specific phone number within 5 business days.  It's Day 5 now and still no call with the long weekend coming. 

 

Cdn_Ali and Mr and Mrs Umer, did the Tier 2 agent call you back with the specific phone number they gave you?  How long did you have to wait when the Tier 2 agent call you back?

Here's an update....I'm able to get through the 800# and also spoke with a Tier 2 today.  The agent gave me confirmation # and pin but I'm waiting for the confirmation email.  I read from other posts that it seems you need to bring a print-out confirmation to the infopass appointment.

I finally could get an infopass appointment for later this week. I received a call after almost 2 months from the time I requested for an infopass. My 24 months extension letter will expire early September. I have a few questions:

1) How long the stamp is good for?

2) Will they get the expired green card and extension letter?

@setiVA the stamp is usually valid for 1 year and usually your card and extension letter get taken when you receive it.

1 - 12 months from issue.

2 - They may take the expired card, they may not.  They will not take the extension letter.
