Hi,

We have our interview coming up soon and I had some questions about my husband traveling in from Europe with the COVID travel restrictions. If my husband has his IR-1 visa on hand, and has our original marriage certificate with him (I won't be able to be traveling with him), will he be able to fly directly from Germany into one of the 13 airports processing essential European travel?

I've seen so many different things, so I want to make sure others have done this successfully before we purchase his ticket.

Thank you!!!

There has been a lot of discussion on flyertalk about this.  This screenshot from the London Embassy may be useful (I know you're Germany but may be something similar on their site). Essentially people did not check in online, got to the airport early, and discussed with the airline that they were exempt from the proclamation and showed proof (copy of spouse US passport and marriage certificate). They then went to a special line where the airline contacted CBP to confirm the person was exempt and ok to fly.

Carry all your documentation that you are the spouse PLUS a copy of the Presidential Proclamation and identify/underline where it says you are an exemption.

He would be coming with his IR-1 (hopefully), but i've seen in other forums that spouses were able to fly in on just the ESTA to visit their spouse.

Im a spouse of a USC with a pending i-130 and scheduled to fly to JFK from Helsinki, Finland via Amsterdam in a couple of weeks to visit my husband with a valid ESTA permit. Are ESTAs categorically being revoked or only in cases where youve checked yourself in online? In case my ESTA gets canceled just before my departure, how have you guys managed to get it approved again? At the check-in desk after presenting appropriate documention (marriage certificate, spouse passport copy)? Im flying first with KLM, then Delta. KLM call center was clueless and had no answers for me on this matter.
