Puts those 2016 "predictions" of right wing extremism following a democratically anointed heir-apparent Hillary victory in perspective. Was more like a self-indictment of people projecting their own extremism upon others. It's a pretty effective method of destabilization and attempting to forcefully shift the Overton window to get power to themselves in rapid fashion. It took several years for a very harsh reaction to left wing extremism in the 60s, dare I say these growing extremist left are ill prepared for the blowback if they continue.

I pray you are right. I dont think left wing nonsense was this bad back then. 

The main difference may be that big city leaders did not support such idotic behavior

Very true, they did not have the institutional support they do now. Part of me wants to play this down, but the threat is definitely a lot more systemic, and just surfaced out of nowhere.

A key metric of how comedy works is when the comedians have to censor themselves, even if offensive, and a fair warning, it's offensive. But that's what the Onion always was, until cancel culture.

 

Cancel culture was always the antithesis of comedy especially for liberals. If one had any introspective reasoning, they'd ask themselves why the 180.

The 5 did a segment today. Several polls report the same thing. Conservatives by a large margin are scared to voice an opnion.  Even Juan Williams agreed the cancel culture is out of control.

Juan was once a victim of cancer culture not that long ago, funny enough, found a home on FOX. The left's engagement to cancer culture is entirely illiberal, so when they want to sidestep humor and declare how a conservative satire site isn't satire, while finding the Onion funny, without irony, remind them of this type of Onion humor, I could list tons like that. The left have no concept of what humor is circa 2020, they cancelled it.. at least, for themselves. It's why their comedians do "news" now, rather than comedy. It's most disappointing to those with a liberal sense of humor like us, who enjoyed offensive things, and have to resort to largely replaying older things, as new "humor" isn't allowed under the left's cancer culture rules that not-so-smart people decided to cater to rather than, say, mock.
