Transit thru Frankfurt Germany or London UK in June 2020 for Immigrant Visa Holder (IR-5)

Hi fellow VJ'ers. My in laws from the Philippines have an approved immigrant visa IR-5 expiring end of June.

 

Thrice my booked flights for them were canceled (MNL-HKG-BOS on Cathay canceled in April, then MNL-NRT-BOS Japan canceled in early May and just yesterday MNL-IST-BOS Turkish just got canceled yesterday).

 

Now my only options for them would require transiting thru Frankfurt Germany or London UK. 

 

I was under the impression from the EO that only USC and LPR's can transit thru Europe. Is this correct or can they as immigrant visa holders also transit

USCs, LPRs, and certain relatives of a USC are exempt from the travel bans. A parent is not one of them, unless they have a child under age 21.

 

That said, sometimes mistakes are made. At least one person had success with an IR-5 that should have been prohibited.

Did u try the flights from UAE or Qatar? They connect to usa.

@Donald120383 Due to low PAX loads the revenue Management depts of these airline carriers don’t see operating flights to the US  as money making.

 

Cathay cancelled all their US  routes in June (JFK, EWR, ORD, BOS, SFO) except for LAX

 

 Japan cancelled all their US routes in June (BOS, ORD, JFK, LAX, SAN, SFO)

 

Turkish also just finalized the cancellation all their US routes for June yesterday

 

These are all non-US carriers who do not get any money from the US government courtesy of the CARES act so it boils down to economics supply and demand

Etihad and Emirates isn’t operating fights to the East coast. Qatar is the only one running a MNL-DOH-JFK but their flights are prohibitively expensive until June 21

 

 We need flights next week to replace the cancelled TK flights

Would you consider the west coast? Internal us flights are dirt cheap at the moment.
