Hello,

This is a question to those who know whether it is possible to have two different visa applications underway in different countries.

To be more specific: I have a K-1 visa underway for marriage in the US, but would my fiancée be able to file a marriage visa for us to get married in the UK, and see which comes first?

Thank you!

No issue in applying for multiple visas.

Although I would note that those 2 visas types are seemingly incompatible. The K-1 requires that you marry in the US. The UK marriage visa is to marry within the UK.

If you get the UK one first and marry in the UK, you can't continue with (or use) the K-1 visa anymore...you would need to start all over with a spousal visa for the US.

If you get the K visa first, there is no need or basis for the UK visa, let alone not being able to leave the US (and return) for several months (or longer).

Where do you plan to actually live? Let that guide which path to pursue.

If it's in the US, then either do

1) The K-1 visa, or

2) Come to the US (or anywhere worldwide) and marry, return home, and do the CR-1 (spousal) visa. There is no issue marrying in the US as a visitor, so long as you return home afterwards.

If it's in the UK, then either

1) Just go for the UK visa, or

2) Come to the US (or anywhere worldwide) and marry, then return home. Start the UK immigration process.
