Did you include birth certificates for each child?  If not, do it now.  This really looks like a request for a child's birth certificate, but I can't really tell.

Your wife's birth certificate was not needed, but her children's birth certificates are needed to establish their relationship to their mother, which establishes their step child relationship to you.

That's what I thought as well and asked the question about the blacked out info. The OP confirmed that they requested the BC of the petitioner (by name).

It's not impossible they made a mistake on the RFE itself, though.

Very possible.  That's why I said if not already sent, send the children's BCs now, and why.

I did. Both online submissions have each child's BC. Did you see the letters are formatted differently? Why would that be?

Hello, I filed my I-130 online for my wife and stepchildren. My birth certificate was attached to ALL 3 applications. But now I am getting an RFE for the kids application even though I can see my Birth Certificate in the online forms I submitted. Any ideas? Here is a copy of the letter:

When we begin this process, if you carefully read the Steps from the entire process, they speak about documents being misplaced or lost, and having to be resubmitted.  Do not fret, simply resubmit the documents requested expeditiously, and their petitions will be joined with your wife’s petition at the NVC.  But be sure and call both USCIS and NVC to verify the receipt of the resubmitted documents, and that the petitions have been rejoined, after receipt of the notice that the documents have been received.  It is imperative that you watch this process very closely now, because if that one mistake has already been made, other’s could possibly follow.  You just want to act on each and every request ASAP, in order to keep things flowing in the right direction, so that those interviews will be scheduled, and you’ll once and for all be able to bring your wife, and babies to the United States with you to live.  Good luck, and God Bless!

If you want to link everything together:

Your ID / proof of citizenship (they want your BC, send BC/passport)

!Your marriage certificate! with the children’s packages

Your wife’s ID (BC/passport)

The children’s ID (BC/passport)

It sounds like the marriage relationship was documented in the spouse petition but since all the petitions are stand-alone it looks like either they missed or you omitted one of those links in the children’s package.
