All appointments canceled until at least May 4.

With Manila staying locked down I figured that was coming

Plus "self-quarantine" being extended to the end of April here in the States.    Most places here are saying 4 May as well.

Not a newbie but lost my old info years ago) I have been through this process before --all the way through naturalization-- This site has always been a great help to me.

That is for sure.   Wife got notice that the company she works for will stay closed until 4 May (as of this time), it was originally 6 April.

Sorry to say but May 4th is extremely optimistic.  Philippines is a hidden disaster right now.  They want to "ramp up" testing to 2000 a week.  Its ridiculous.  The problem is inconsistency in applying the lockdown in different provinces.  Philippines is a boiling pot now.  Soon the government has no choice but to get people back to work as there are so many starting to starve and not getting the aid from the national government.  Its being cut off by local governments, many of wish are not even delivering the said amount of food they should be.  More like 1/10 of what it was supposed to be.  If the government does open up on May 4th, expect mass sickness.  Nobody knows the true situation in the Philippines as its not at all actively tracked.  We are supposed to have our interview as soon as the Embassy opens and Im hoping for the best but expecting for the worst.  Even when the country opens, I wont be having my fiance and son go out for 1-2 months just to see what happens with the rest of the crowd.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

A lot of relationships are going to be ruined...

Maybe, but our relationship has gotten so much stronger from this event. It has brought us closer together and closer to God.
