Good night to every person reading this post!, i have some questions that my faince  and me are worry about.

1. K1 visa takes passport expiration as a requirement? ill try to explain this point with my english, for example my passport exp date is in April 20 - 2021

so taking that exp date we can start the process anytime we want? or there is like a travel requirement (6 months of passport validity ) to start it?

2. If we are doing the process and the passport EXP in the middle of the proccess what happens? i can still go to the country and Marry with my fiance? ( Im from venezuela living in Peru for 2 years by now thats why we are really worried about the passport exp venezuelans are struggling to get new passports)

Thanks a lot for all your help!.

Your passport needs to be valid for 6 more months at the time of the interview. Looks like you better get moving.

You need 6+ months of validity on your passport for them to issue you the visa. You can apply for the K1 visa with your current passport and sort out your new one in the time that you are waiting out the process before your interview, if that eases your mind (I'm not sure at what step you are in the process).

You need a valid passport at the interview.

You need a valid passport at the time of entry.  They do not need to be the same passport

The time remaining on the passport will depend on what country issued the passport.

You have 6 months from the date of the medical to enter the US.

If you update your profile to include your country you can get an exact answer, otherwise plan on needing 6 months remaining.

Everyone here is 50% correct.  You need a passport with 6+ months 'left' on the validity, but you also need sufficient empty pages.  At least two pages (one for the actual visa, and another for the entry stamp.  So a new, empty passport will work.

So far every foreign country I have visited just seems to randomly stamp a page.  My HK entry/exit and a few of my Chinese entry/exit stamps are on different pages.   Once in Beijing I was held up for over 20 minutes as they tried to match up the stamps to prove I left the last time.

Flying back through Canada (the French side.. bunch of a-holes) put their entry/exit stamp right in the middle of each page.. basically 'costing' me a page for each stamp.

Thanks a lot for all your help!.

I can't add anymore as it would be redundant but I would like to ask if you could do you and us a favor.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks
