Hi my passport is about to expire in June 2020, I just got done with my i-751 (ROC) Biometrics done, I don't have any plan to travel outside the United States anytime or so, is it OK not to renew my passport and just wait until I take my citizenship test till next year and get a new American passport instead!? Pls I'm a bit worried, a help would be much more appreciated

No problem not renewing it as long as you don’t need to travel before getting US citizenship.

2016-08-08: Case Complete

2017-06-30: Interview, approved

2017-07-04: Visa in hand

2017-08-01: Entry to US

The same happened to me but I decided to renew it because my embassy told me that It would be problematic to exit the country with an expired Passport. I wasn't planning on traveling as well but I did just in case of an emergency back home, I also made sure they gave me back the old one. When you apply for citizenship they ask for your passport but I'm not sure if it matters if it's expired 

B1/B2 -->married USC---> I-130 + I-485 + I-765 :

Sent: 06/20/2016

Biometric: 07/20/2016

RFE: 09/01/2016

RFE reply sent: 10/31/16

EAD received:  11/15/2016

Interview 03/15/2017 APPROVED

 

ROC:

Package Delivered: 12/21/2018

Text and email with case # received: 12/26/2018 Vermont Service Center

Biometric app. 01/30/2019

Approved: 12/06/2019

Green Card received: 12/12/2019 ❤️📬

 

N400:

Submitted: 03/06/2020
