Social security card k1 visa

Hi. I came to US on K1 visa, applied for social security card and got it but on the card it is mentioned 'valid for work only'.

so now i have got my green card. So what do i need to do regarding social security card? Do i need to inform the office of my change of status and will i be issued a new card or what? Also can it be done online or i will have to visit the office? And what documents will be needed?

Have you applied for AOS with EAD+AP?

 

Your current SSN will be valid only when you have work authorization. Your work authorization will be in the form of the EAD or green card, whichever is first. Once the green card arrives, you may return to the SSA and update your card, removing those words.

That's what a SS card stands for. Work only! With it and your green card you can now work.

I have received my green card now. So means i have to go to the Social security office to get SScard updated? Can i do that online?

If you have your green card, then you must go to the SSA office directly. Your card will be unrestricted once it's updated.
