good afternoon. I would like to hear from you about your medical appointments for the K1 visa in Brazil. Which vaccines had to take and if so had to redo any.
I'm still deciding which city to schedule, because I'll have to travel anyway to consult.

Thank you for your help

A k1 is not required to have any vaccinations for the visa.  Vaccinations are needed for adjustment of status.

Typically Tdap,  mmr, flu(seasonal), and varicella (unless medical history or vaccination records would eliminate).

YMMV

The doctor that does the medical for know which vaccinations are needed for the embassy to review.

I suggest you go to your nearest posto de saúde with your vaccination card in hand and ask them to check if you’re up to date with your shots. This will save time and money going to the medical for the visa. Depending on the doctor, they can request you to take the tdap and flu from a private clinic since those two are not available for free at a posto de saúde.

I highly recommend dra Juliana from Belo Horizonte. You leave her office with your sealed medical in hand, her staff is very helpful and the tests and shots are right by her office without the need to walk long/ taxi.

edit: you can get a dt shot at the posto de saúde but not all the doctors will take that and will make you take the dtap

It depends on the doctor.
The doctor in Rio is the “best” because he is very “mellow” about vaccines and will mark your sheet as complete if you’ve been vaccinated for Td, MMR and flu (if the flu shots are currently available/season). Usually he won’t even ask if you’ve had varicella, he’ll automatically write “varicella history”. Also, he’s whole appointment is very superficial and “easy”.

The other 3 doctors are very strict about Tdap, they’ll “make” you take this shot if you only have the Td one, otherwise they’ll mark your sheet as incomplete. Also, in Brasilia I think, the doctor asks for a blood test to prove you’ve had varicella/been vaccinated.

Furthermore: going to a ‘posto de saúde’ with your vaccination card might not do much, as they’ll say it’s complete according to the Brazilian vaccination calendar - which is different from what CDC requires for immigration purposes.

Thank you so much for your help.

I got the dtpa vaccine this month, from what I read on the embassy website I have all the vaccines up to date now.
I was in doubt about the doctor, but I think I'll opt for Rio de Janeiro anyway.

If you have any further doubts about your vaccines you can go to the (posto de saúde) and explain you are going to travel to USA with K-1 Visa and then they will give you all the vaccines that is requiered for the international card of vaccination, that was what I did.

You might think so,  but it's not.   A nonimmigrant Visa is the same worldwide

Getting them done abroad is the smart thing to do as it makes the rest of the process easier

Completing your vaccinations in your own country can save you money. Some embassies include the vaccinations in the medical (The Philippines) others do not and you pay when you are at the medical above and beyond the medical fee.

Two things to be aware of; you must have either a completed DS-3025 for filing of AOS or you are required once you arrive in the states and are lacking any vaccinations you must see a Civil Surgeon have an I-691 completed for the AOS. A CS in the states will always be more expensive. Word to the wise, shop around and compare your options. Check-in your country's sub-forum for others and what they have experienced.

During the doctor appointment he will tell you, but you will need DTaP, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella, influenza or need to prove that you already took it. Note that he can request something more or less base on your age.
