CR1 Interview filling I-864 with new born child that will file CRBA

My wife's interview for her CR-1 visa is Tuesday and she just gave birth on September 4th (a few days ago). My new child will acquire U.S. citizenship after we file the CRBA at the embassy next month. We filled out all documents (DS 260, I-864) without the child being included as a dependent. About a month ago I spoke to a supervisor at the NVC and he stated I do not have to add the child to the I-864 because there is an oath to support the child until their 18th birthday in the CRBA application. He said the child wouldn't need to be included on the I-864.

 

Do I need to amend the I-864 and add the child as a dependent? How do I bring this up to the embassy?

 

P.S. the embassy won't be able to respond to an email before the interview.

USC children are included (must be included) in household size however a separate affidavit of support is not required.

The statement was true for an unborn child at time  of spouse interview.   Child is no longer unborn

Just an update for future reference. At the interview, the consular officer did not require I update the I-864 for my new born.

Correct.  Do expect the Consular Officer to consider the child part of the household when making the judgment call on public charge, but you are not required to submit an updated I-864.  Belt and suspenders approach would be to have an updated signed affidavit in the applicant's hands on the interview date.

 

Too late for the OP to follow that advice but others tend to read these responses.
