Do you schedule a K1 interview or is it assigned to you?

I (petitioner) and my fiancée (Singaporean) have been seeing conflicting info on the K1 interview. We just received a notice from the Embassy that we can proceed to schedule the medical checkup and instructions to mail them the confirmation slip of an online form along with payment receipt. The instructions state however that the we will be assigned an interview date some time after receipt of our mailed items.

We were under the impression that we would have to schedule the K1 interview ourselves online on ceac. Are the K1 interview dates just auto assigned by the embassy without confirmation on the petitioners own schedule?

Depends on the embassy.   Varies, some schedule for you, other allow you to do this.    Have you checked the embassy website ?

Can not definitively tell which embassy you are speaking about, Singapore? Your timeline is vacant. Like others have said, it depends on the embassy.B-)

I saw that too when we get the "in transit" status in the ceac website (NVC/embassy already scheduled the interview). But as we can see here, people needs to schedule their interview (Montreal embassy).

For those wondering in Singapore, you cannot schedule the interview, it will be assigned to you after they receive your check list in about a week or so.

This is really helpful information, was wondering about that too. Thanks for replying!
