Tourist visa

 I will be sponsoring my wife for a  trip to visit me in the USA,  Is an  invitation letter necessary?   And what documents do I need to show that I will sponsor her?  She has already applied for the tourist visa and is scheduled for an interview.

There is no sponsorship for a B2 visitor visa.

In that case, I would imagine just transferring the money for the trip to her so she can show sufficient funds to cover the trip is the best move.  There are differing opinions as to if an invitation letter helps or hurts a B2 application.

Possibly.  Having a USC spouse though is probably even a bigger red flag.  However, with the money thing, she can prove that it is from her husband then to me that shows comingling of marital finances.

Okay, but how would comingling help in the eyes of the CO? If I think like a CO, it's all the same to me if she already has a USC spouse. 

 

If she can't afford the trip, but her USC spouse can cover the expense, isn't it better to just be honest and say he's paying on her behalf? 

 

In my case, my wife put me down as the one who is paying for the trip (we live together in Vietnam, though).

I thought that was pretty much what I said.  If the husband buys the tickets, or puts the money in her account for the trip, it is pretty much the same thing.  Again, the hurdle of having a USC spouse living in the US is going to be pretty huge IMO.
