Got married on a tourist visa, later filed for I-130

Hello!

Anyone here who was in the same position as I am today? I got married in Vegas while on my Birthday celebration last 2018, I never overstayed and I always just usually visit around 1-2 weeks. Took a while before we filed the CR1 because I was being sent to different countries and never had the chance to stay in the Philippines to gather my requirements.

Is that something that would be taken against me during the interview? After my wedding I went to the US like 5x but I always exit and have no plans of bypassing the CR1 system.

thoughts?

No issue at all - the extra time visiting is a plus IMO (except unusual cases like being married for a few years but not seeing each other often due to a reason other than traveling...it may look like a marriage of convenience more so than anything else).

Good luck.

Thank you! This sounds comforting, I hope I won’t be tagged as Fraudulent since I married while on a tourist visa

Getting married while in the US on a visitor visa and leaving is perfectly fine, couples do it all the time.  I agree with @geowrian, you should have no issues.

No over-stays.  All is good .. you have no issues.

There is no requirement to file the I-130 petition immediately upon marriage.

Did you file ROM  (Report of Marriage) through the Philippine consulate representing the state where you were married?   Did you renew your passport in your married name?  < if you did not do those you will want to get that accomplished.  Then make sure to file the I-130 in your married name ;)     (you will want to follow traditional Philippines naming format )
