My fiancé has a document that is very difficult to obtain but that document I have already sent to USCIS. Will that be enough for the interview or do they want a second copy even though it’s submitted along with his case? His interview is in Ethiopia us embassy

Anything you send with the petition should be forwarded to the consulate as part of the file. That said, USCIS does have a habit of losing things, and it will be changing hands several times between lockbox filing and consulate, so it is highly recommended to have any required documents with you at the interview as well.

Nor why the original was sent instead of a copy, as directed in the instructions.

Contact the embassy and ask them about it. Or have your fiance get a second copy, just in case.

How about asking in a regional forum? Someone who had their interview in Ethiopia might be able to help you.

Good luck!

Pretty sure this answered the OP's question ("Should I obtain new documents?"):
