just wondering my fiance is now going through the 3 day sputum test and I canceled her interview ☹️ just wondering do I have to contact the embassy because the valid date is Sept 9th and this 2 month wait is going to go pass that. Does St Lukes notify the embassy that she's going through this or do I have to. thanks  in advance Dave/Dona

She can still do the interview.   Just won't get the visa until medical is cleared.

You do not need to contact the embassy, they will automatically extend the petition validity for up to a year.   You do not have to notify the embassy of the SPUTUM process.

    Can not complete the interview until AFTER the medical is completed.

so can she do the interview during the 2 month waiting period?

    Have to wait until SPUTUM is complete ... 60 days    Once your fiancee clears SPUTUM,  you can then schedule a new interview.

@Hank_ How does the embassy connect the dots that the medical is not complete and thus the beneficiary can't move forward with the interview. Does the gatekeeper ask on the day of the interview "do you have your medical complete?". Just curious to know this tidbit of information.

Pretty much.  You aren't allowed to proceed without it

YMMV

Most everyone hand carries the medical file to the interview, it is asked for at check-in.  Those that had to complete SPUTUM or DOT the file is delivered by SLEC.   All are transmitted electronically as well.

The prescreener asks for:   DS-160/260 conf page, birth certificate, NBI clearance, MRV receipt, CENOMAR, medical docs (sealed brown envelope from SLEC); then later on the affidavit of support, my fiance's divorce decree, W2s and 1040 (tax return).

As you may recall some months back there was a person petitioning her parents, the father had medical delays and she was intent on him going to the interview even though it was mentioned he would not be able to complete his interview ... he was turned away, told to come back when the medical is completed.   There have been a number of others, but that is the most recent that made a bigger impact.

Years ago .. ya you could get away with it.

They can automatically extend your NOA2/petition in 4 month increments. I sent a courtesy email to the embassy to make them aware my NOA2 would expire a few days before my fiancee got through the medical due to sputum. It was no problem she interviewed and I guess they did extend my NOA2.
