Ok, I've thought about it and I'm in!!! I'm not really concerned with my weight so much, but I did get out of breath going up 4 flights of stairs today and I know that's not ok. So you guys can be my motivators for exercise. I hate exercising so much. We've got a gym at work, and I used to go every day during my lunch hour until I started making various excuses. No more excuses!

I need to be in. I've been married 3 months and gained nine pounds. I don't think it's wifey's cooking, though she's a good one. I want to loose 15 pounds by mid August and 20 by the end of the summer. I need to do something. We'll see how it goes.

Weight Watchers has been helpful in the past; I do well when there is some accountability to another. Unfortunately, there are some reasons why I cannot attend the meetings in my rural area :(

Oh I've never been to meetings! You can do it online and it's actually cheaper than doing it the traditional way, if you're still interested in it. They have a HUGE database of food and you track it using their online system. Plus they give you graphs, etc. showing your weight progress. I think I pay only $16.95/ month and it's totally worth it imho. fitday.com also has a tracking thing online but it doesn't really give you a program to follow like weight watchers.

I'm in too! So far I've lost 55 lbs and I am one lb away from my next goal. I am loosing 10 lbs at a time so that it feels like I am loosing faster. I use Calorie-count.com here's my profile if anyone's interested in adding a friend :) from there you can see my before and after pics (well the after pic was 10 lbs ago ;) )

Mainly what I have done is:

  • I eat 200 calories every 2 hrs seven times a day.
  • I try to eat more protein than carbs.
  • Calorie-count.com helps me keep track of the numbers and even has a toolbar for Firefox with an eat meter that lets you know how many more calories you can have for the day.
  • I don't exercise other than taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking further from the store, walk to places when I can, if I forget something upstairs/downstairs I actually go get it  I do get on my stationary bike from time to time but the most fun thing I do is I watch tv sitting on one of those exercise balls. By sitting on the ball without my feet on the floor, it really works your core muscles to keep you balanced.
  • build at least a little muscle, more muscle burns more calories which will burn more fat.
  • I weigh myself every day, for some that may not be a good idea, something else you can do is take measurements and keep track of them in a spread sheet. Measure weekly and compare, especially if you are building muscle since muscle weighs more than fat. If anyone's interested, I wouldn't mind sharing mine.
  • I drink lots of bottled water with crystal light, when I want a treat I grab a Coke Zero.
  • I don't deny myself certain foods, a small candy bar is 200 calories. a hamburger or brisket taco may be between 300-400, if you have 100 calorie snacks before and after (or anywhere else in the day) you are still meeting your caloric intake goal. (for women it's about 1400, men I think is 2200)

I love it, I feel good, my chronic stomach aches have started to subside, I got my period back! (ok maybe that wasn't such a good thing :P) I don't see it as a diet, I have fully changed my eating habits. I have been buying new jeans at the thrift store only because I am hoping that I won't be wearing each size much longer :) I have a feeling I was about a size 18 before and now I am about a 13-14... NO MORE STRETCH PANTS!!!

I would like to lose at least 60 pounds... I put on 40 pounds in the first 9 months of living here back in 2005 :o but I really haven't gained much since then... I keep fluctuating around the same weight.... I did lose about 11 pounds when I was pregnant but I gained it right back after.....

I had put on about 20 pounds in the 3 years before that, so not exactly sure how I put on so much weight in a short period of time when I first moved here...:unsure:

I would be happy to be around 160 pounds... I think I looked good at that weight... I have been skinnier but I don't think I looked good....

Hubby is a little afraid that if I lose weight that I am going to lose my butt :P he said my butt was a little flatter before :P

i don't really eat a lot.... but sometimes I eat the wrong things, I guess.... and I usually only eat once or twice a day and usually later in the day  I know that can't be good either....
