Hi Everyone,

My case says its "ready" at the consulate. How do I schedule an interview and receive the Packet 3? Thanks

Have you thought maybe, just maybe you should have looked on the website for your embassy for those instructions? Or, maybe you went looking on VJ and found the sub-forum for your country? Be proactive. Don't leave this all to chance. All these months waiting and now you don't know what to do?

From your embassy: Once your file is received at post, an instruction package will be sent to you by email.

Where are you in the stages? Has the DS 160 been completed? Have you received the email of the steps the beneficiary is supposed to complete (check your spam folder) Your Algerian fiance needs to get a birth certificate, police record, certification of non marriage (or copies of the divorce decree if he has been married before) and a copy of his military record. All of those need translated.

After he completes the ds 160 he will be instructed to pay the fee and be able to set up an ustraveldocs account.... to make the appointment for the interview. Once he receives the confirmation of the interview he can schedule the medical exam (the paperwork takes 10 days to get back from the medical exam so don’t schedule the interview too early)

Hi there! We havent gotten any email - I dont even think they have his email. We've been trying to call the embassy but they hang up the call 😕 I havent gotten the instruction packet either. Should we fill out the DS-160 before getting instructions? Is there anything we need to do to get instructions?

With all due respect....

None of the information is provided on the Algerian embassy site. Once you receive the number from NVC it’s a bit of a “grope in the dark” situation. It may take the embassy days or weeks to give you any information (and even then it’s extremely confusing). In addition....they have probably been waiting months for this stage....So, yes, she probably came here for information from some of us that went through the Algerian embassy. Isn’t that the purpose of VJ? To help others on the journey?

The email will come to the petitioner.

When did the packet reach the consulate?

Why am I'm able do what I recommended she do. Sometimes you have to help yourself by researching.

For your Embassy there is information here: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Algeria&cty=Alger

The fiancé(e) K-1 nonimmigrant visa is for the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) of a U.S. citizen. The K-1 visa permits the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) to travel to the United States and marry his or her U.S. citizen sponsor within 90 days of arrival. You can learn more about fiancé(e) visas on usvisas.state.gov.
    1. Once your file is received at post, an instruction package will be sent to you by email.
    2. First you need to pay the visa fee at one of Aramex offices, and then you have to register and schedule a K-visa appointment through the online appointment system at www.ustraveldoc.com/dz.
    3. Assemble the required documents that are listed on the instruction package.
    4. Schedule a medical examination with the Embassy-approved physician in Algiers at least 15 days before your visa interview
    5. If the visa is issued, your passport and documents will be available in approximately 7-10 business days at Aramex office that you already selected for pick up or delivery.
    6. If the visa is refused, the Consular Officer will provide you with further information.

That information is out of date.

Would you like me to go through it point by point?

I, in fact, did attend the interview with my fiancé (as did four others I have met on visa journey did).

I did not take the I 864 (it’s the 134 with a tax transcript and letter from your employer with a statement from the bank saying when the account was opened and how much money is in it)

If I was in the OP’s shoes asking for advice.....and received the response you gave.....I would run screaming from this site. And while I appreciate your dedication to “helping others” and your current situation....I will.....with all due respect say..... get off your f!!!!ing high horse and post constructively or go somewhere where you are needed....
