Hi Everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone else is in this same boat. I had my NOA2 on May 2nd. I never received anything in the mail from NVC but after emailing the INQUIRY email a million times they finally let me know that on May 28 my petition was sent to the embassy (I received this email on June 13th). It is June 16th now and I don't have any tracking information - nothing sent by mail. I try calling them, but as you all know it is impossible to get ahold of them. I emailed them yet again and had my fiancee email the embassy.

How long does it normally take after a petition is sent to receive case number information by mail to access the CEAC website?

You mentioned tracking information NVC does not give out that, did you get your case number? NVC is usually forthcoming about the case numbers once they have assigned them and will give it to you if you call. They don't always email you or answer your emails in a timely fashion if at all. Tracking information and case numbers are two different things. Are you meaning your case number from NVC or tracking information? You should have received your case number well before your case was shipped out. I suggest you call until you get through and ask for your case number if you don't already have it. Then check the CEAC site once you have your number.

That's odd that they did not give you your number in the email they sent informing you your case was shipped out. USCIS case number will have a WAC (if processed in California) while the NVC number the first 3 letters will be of your embassy. I'd be calling them everyday until you get your case number as it has obliviously been assigned since your case has been sent to your embassy.

Check your spam folder (both of you need to do this) as it has been known that they sometimes can end up there. Call NVC to get your case number. Once you have your case number go to ceac.state.gov and enter "immigrant" and your case number. Your status should appear. If it says "ready" then your embassy has your file and you are to proceed with the P3 letter. Other details plus phone numbers are in this thread with the first post. Download the pdf for tips, tricks and hacks.

For your Embassy there is information here: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Algeria&cty=Alger

The fiancé(e) K-1 nonimmigrant visa is for the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) of a U.S. citizen. The K-1 visa permits the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) to travel to the United States and marry his or her U.S. citizen sponsor within 90 days of arrival. You can learn more about fiancé(e) visas on usvisas.state.gov.

  1. Once your file is received at post, an instruction package will be sent to you by email.
  2. First you need to pay the visa fee at one of Aramex offices, and then you have to register and schedule a K-visa appointment through the online appointment system at
    www.ustraveldoc.com/dz.
  3. Assemble the required documents that are listed on the instruction package.
  4. Schedule a medical examination with the Embassy-approved physician in Algiers at least 15 days before your visa interview
  5. If the visa is issued, your passport and documents will be available in approximately 7-10 business days at Aramex office that you already selected for pick up or delivery.
  6. If the visa is refused, the Consular Officer will provide you with further information.

Doubt that's true. My NOA2 was May 8th and it's already at the embassy.
