N 400 - US Citizen Petitioner Status - How to answer ?

Hello all - I'll be applying for my partner who received their permanent GC and are now eligible to apply for citizenship. 

 

I am a US citizen thru parents who were US citizens but due to complications I was born early on a trip abroad. I do not have any naturalization certificates or anything else other than my US passport. We filed for my partner thru my status and they were approved for GC. 

 

Now, we are ready to apply using N-400. How do I answer the question of my status? The only two options are (1) birth and (2) naturalization/other. I am not a US citizen by birth and I do not have a naturalization date. I don't want to misrepresent anything but neither of those options apply? Help please!

Birth. You were born a USC. You don’t have to be born in the USA to be a USC at birth. The question on N-400 asks when you became a USC, either “at birth” or later through naturalization.

if your parents were citizens so are you. regardless of where you were born.
