I’ve just received a I-797 rejection letter from USCIS for the following reason(s):

The payment amount is incorrect, or has not been provided. Please review the form instructions for the fee information.

I’m not sure why it’s incorrect after I double checked the amount I should pay. I sent 5 money order checks totaling $1225 for I- 485. I don’t understand why that mount is incorrect. Also what does it mean when the notice states: based on the information you provided, your priority date could not be established. Please resubmit your application with proper documentation to address listed on the bottom of the notice.

Please could someone read my notice and tell me what did is the reason it got rejected or give me advice?

So sorry this happened - I had the exact same thing happen to me. How did you provide the check? When you send it back, make sure you clip the check to the front page of your application. Do NOT put it in an envelope. They won’t open it (stupid, I know).

It’s so frustrating! We mailed it May 13 and they received it May 16th. I got the notice in the mail today. I attached 5 western union money orders to the i 485. One check for 499+499+2.00+140+85 all addressed to the U.S department of homeland security.  I don’t understand why it’s the incorrect amount.

Quite frankly, they could have just miscalculated the total, or misplaced one of the too many money orders.

Why do you have that many money orders? Just create one. There is no reason to have three money orders for $2, $140, and $85. I assume $499 x 2 is something related to under $500 something?

This is goofy. Go somewhere that can write one check.

Are the money orders made out properly (pay to) and if you filed for EAD then check your answer to question 27 - must be (C) (9).  If the former is not correct then they will not process the payment. If the latter was not filled with c9 then you would have to pay an additional fee for EAD pushing you over 1225.
