A tourist visa is a form of a visitor visa.

No documents are necessary. She completes a DS-160 and interviews.

1/2/18: EAD + AP approved (no website update), 1/5/18: EAD + AP mailed, 1/8/18: EAD + AP approval notice hardcopies received, 1/10/18: EAD + AP received

9/5/18: Interview scheduled notice, 10/17/18: Interview

10/24/18: Green card produced notice, 10/25/18: Formal approval, 10/31/18: Green card received

From personal experience supporting documents like a invitation letter and offering to pay for expenses makes a difference.  I know what they website says but in reality at least in Philippines and Singapore it can make a difference.

 

It doesn't hurt to include them

Ah, the invitation letter & affidavit of support. It usually makes one feel better about the result (they tried), but there's no evidence it has ever had any positive impact on the result.

An invitation cannot ensure somebody will not violate status or otherwise overstay. Why somebody wants to visit isn't a reason for refusal. An offer to support the visitor is not legally enforceable.
