Hey guys.

So im trying t upload my photo for the ds160 form. The only way it lets me do this from scanning my passport photo in is when there is a white boarder from the scanning left from cropping.  It doesn’t go right down to the size of the photo? Has anyone else had this problem? Will it be accepted?

We took a picture using a cellphone against a white wall.  Then we used trial version of Photoshop to crop the photo, Windows Paint can do the same.  The photo just needs to be "relatively" okay.

I used an app called Photobooth and a white wall. Then I printed two passport photos per 4x6 print at Walgreens for less than $1

I am not sure if you were willing to do it again, but when I was taking my passport pictures for the visa interview, I asked for digital copy as well. They put it on my flash drive and I had zero troubles with uploading it. Just needed to cut down on the file size. As you probably went to take yours already, not sure if you wanna go through it and pay again. It's just a tip, just in case nothing else works

I also recommend their photo cropping tool. You have to install Flash Software for it to work on your computer. I had also an issue with the size of the photo; the head was too big to fit into the required lines. Just took another photo in front of a white wall and tried it again. It worked the second time with the size. Note that the wall doesn't have to be exactly plain white. Off white  is also okay, since white walls often appear kinda grey in pictures. This was the case for my photo.
