Traveling to Lima, Peru with a layover in Mexico City on extension letter

Hi,

I have seen mixed experience form people on here but wanted to get recent experience from people who have travelled (especially to Peru). I will be traveling with Interjet to Lima, Peru for 2 weeks this month with a 5 hour lay over in Mexico City. I don't plan to leave the Mexico city airport. For both, Peru and Mexico City I have a visa waiver being permanent resident of the US and citizen of India. Has anyone had any trouble with airplanes not letting them board or with getting entry into LIma/Mexico/or back into the US? This will be my first time traveling on an extension letter.

Thank you in advance!

My husband and I went to Mexico.  They processed him at immigration with his green card it was fine.  We also went to Peru but he only showed his Honduran passport.

Seems OP wants to know if both the Mexican and Peruvian immigration authorities recognize the expired GC with the I-751 extension letter as proof of LPR status.

As long as you are traveling during the time allowed on your 18 month extension - you’ll be fine.

But Just in case - make a couple of copies of the original letter and keep them with you. The airline agent may want to keep it before issuing you a boarding pass.

Safe travels!

Hi! How did the trip go? Did you have any issues entering Peru with extension letter? Are immigration officials and airlines flying there familiar with this letter? I know it's an old post but it's hard to find experiences online from people going to Peru specifically, with extension letter, because they only give visa free entry for LPRs to 2 nationals ( India and China) and many others don't even need visa for there. Thanks in advance!

I suggest opening a new thread for your question.

Reasons:

1. @solotraveler was last online on May 26, 2019 so don't expect answers any time soon.

2. Since 2019 and now there's been COVID 2019 pandemic, change of laws and politicians, wars and many events. Travel is not exactly the same as it was before, so any information from that era is irrelevant for today's world.
