I work for a very large company and noticed that they use a service called "The Work Number", which is a way for them to provide their employees with employment and income verification for a variety of reasons.  They even have a special verification type for Immigration. They state that it's tamper resistant (it comes directly from the employer's payroll system) and represents a higher level of authenticity than employee-furnished copies of pay stubs or W2s.  When generated, the report has the date as of, my employment status, hire date, total time with the employer, job title, rate of pay (salary) along with the total income I received over the past three years.  It’s also digitally signed by my employer.  They also state that my employer may be able to provide this information in the form of an affidavit.  As I prepare to complete the Affidavit of Support application and supporting documentation (K-1 Visa), my question is:  Do you think that this verification would be sufficient in lieu of (B) listed below?   I will certainly have my bank provide the information listed in (A) below.

(A)  Statement from an officer of the bank/financial institution with your deposits, identifying the following: 1. date account opened; 2. total amount deposited for the past year; 3. present balance

(B)  Statement(s) from your employer on business stationary showing: 1. Date and nature of employment; 2. salary paid; 3. whether position is temporary or permanent (also include copies of your last two pay stubs and your previous W-2 for the associated employer if available)

Any suggestions or advice around providing additional documentation (W2) would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

As long as it shows current income (hourly rate or salary) and has all sufficient details, if you can supply W'2s to back it up, don't think it should be any issue.

My employer uses them (and apparently so does a company I worked for a long time ago, so both showed up on my report from them); Moscow was fine with it, and we haven't gotten any RFEs on our AOS paperwork yet.

My employer has The Work Number service, and it assumes that for immigration, The Work Number won't work. (The irony is that my previous employers also had The Work Number, and my current employer would not accept The Work Number for verifying my previous employment). The flyer my employer has for The Work Number says:

Tell your Verifier to:

Visit www.theworknumber.com or call (866)  604-6572

Provide the Verifier with the following:

  • Our Employer Code: redacted
  • Your Social Security Number

If you require a verification of employment for immigration purposes or need a letter with an original signature, please complete a request form via redacted.

Thus far I've used the redacted service to get a letter for visa interview, and AOS filing. I presume that at AOS interview I will need another letter, this time with a wet signature.
