can you marry and then cancel k1 applic?

Im having trouble with some documents arriving in time for my interview.. is it possible to go over and marry and then cancel k1 application once back and file for spousal visa instead?

Possible? Sure. But you need to start everything from zero, spend more money and wait for it all out again. If that's OK with you, by all means, go for it. 

 

Do you already have an interview date? You can request the embassy to postpone your interview and that will give you time to gather what you need. In some cases, they can reschedule you for a few months out. So, it all depends on what stage of the K1 process you are.

Yes. Can marry at anytime and then write the appropriate place (Embassy, USCIS, ect) and let them know you are withdrawing/canceling the I-129f petition.

08/15/2014 : Met Online

06/30/2016 : I-129F Packet Sent

11/08/2016 : Interview - APPROVED!

11/23/2016 : POE - Dallas, Texas

From sending of I-129F petiton to POE - 146 days.

 

02/03/2017 - Married 

02/24/2017 - AOS packet sent

06/01/2017 - EAD/AP Combo Card Received in mail

12/06/2017 - I-485 Approved

12/14/2017 - Green Card Received in mail - No Interview

Also, depending on what's missing and how soon you expect to get it, you might just go to your interview as scheduled.

 

At least in some cases I think you'd be able to send in your documents afterward (though if you're waiting on required documents of course they wouldn't be able to issue your visa until they got it).
