Bringing Checked Bag and Carry-on

Hey, so maybe I am overthinking this but I always get paranoid with CBP even with absolutely zero I'll intent. Is it too much to bring both a checked bag and carry on for a 2 week trip to the US? My fiance wants to bring a decent amount packed in the checked bag. She has her last pay stub and a copy of our Noa1 just in case.

She always seems to get harrased by CBP at Toronto Pearson and this is the first time we are engaged and trying to visit. Thanks! :)

I always used to travel to the US with 1 checked bag, 1 carry on and 1 personal item, and I always stayed for 2-3 weeks at a time before I moved here. Never had any trouble.

If she would arrive with say 3 suitcases than yeah, she could run into some trouble

Should not be any problem at all.  Before getting married to my US husband in California, i would visit for 2-3 months at a time, bring 2 large checked bags, full carry on and purse, and as long as you have a return ticket, there shouldn't be any issue.

I travel to the US to visit my fiance quite often since we are only a short drive apart. For flying, as long as there's a return flight purchased there shouldn't be an issue. When I cross the border I always bring my copy of our I-129F package that we sent and a copy of my work schedule to show that I'll be returning to Canada. Not once have they asked me to show them the package we sent but an immigration lawyer had recommended keeping it with me for border crossings. Good Luck!

With the restrictions on gels/liquids these days, checking a bag is quite normal for even very short trips for some people.

I also highly suggest investing in Nexus.  Given that you'll be going back and forth often, it's a very good $50 investment that saves almost all the awkward interactions.
