Anytime I check my NVC status on the ceac website it says to follow 6 steps. Do I have to submit/send paperwork to the NVC? I'm getting confused on what to do/send. I've read some people say that you don't have to send paperwork to NVC? Can someone let me know they did. Thanks

Do you have case complete? If so, it'll say that until it is transferred to the embassy even though you're all set with submissions.

My case is currently "at NVC" do I just disregard what it says? Basically I don't have to follow the 6 steps?

When you are a K1 VIsa applicant you do not have to send anything to the NVC. That's for IR-1/CR-1 visas. Nothing to do but wait for the NVC

It depends what you've done on your case thus far.  Have you paid fees and filled out the DS (whichever is applicable for K1, I'm CR1)? I think for k1 you pay the ds161 fee, fill it out, and schedule your own interview. Have you done that yet?

I see above someone else was able to answer. Sorry I'm not a k1! Best of luck

To go off of that:

Once the NVC gives you your case number, you can complete the DS-160 and pay the visa fee. You can do this before everything arrives at your consulate. Once everything is officially there you can schedule your interview and medical.

Your answer is confusing her. She is a K1 and the instructions she is seeing are for a CR-1 couple. She is to ignore that information. @Tara & Rohit have graciously given her the correct steps.

You should check in with your country's sub-forum to get a better understanding of the process for the Mexico Embassy that you will be interviewing with, and to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to at the US Embassy - Juarez Mexico.

Link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Get the Juarez K1 Embassy instructions at http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/K1/CDJ%20-%20Ciudad%20Juarez.pdf (Spanish) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cBWgGJr4a5ay3b4OV28_dC3pgf63ZUr-/view?usp=sharing (English) as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use this website as a checklist. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for you country so that you are up to speed.

The “six steps” are for immigrant visa cases only (CR and IR visas). They do not apply to K visas (which are, strictly speaking, non-immigrant visas).
