Merry (almost) christmas everyone!

I'm extremely grateful that I found such an amazing, helpful group of people here. Thanks to everyone who regularly updates and answers questions.

Just an update,

ever since my interview for N400 on Nov. 5th I haven't received any updates other than the website saying " case was submitted for quality review based on an approval Recommendation"

Still waiting on the Oath date.. but it is the holiday season so I'm trying to be patient 😅

Merry Christmas Goodsoohe5919,

Thank you for being a part of the group!

Yeah, I bet they have just slowed down even more because of the holidays. It is so hard to be patient, but it will all work out eventually. I hope it will be soon for you! Did you add your info in our tracker? If you would like to, here's the link:-)

Hi All,

Since this group only has 8 members left (according to the spreadsheet) who have not yet been scheduled for interviews, @shearar and I were wondering if some of you might have updates you haven't had a chance to post here yet?

Have you guys heard any news?

Hoping the best for you all!

I generally don't follow this thread for the reason you just noted - just about everyone from April 2019 has already become a citizen....

The NYC office is a hot mess (has a backlog of about 30,000 cases). My wait time was down to under a month but today blew out again to 3 months. I'm in the "feeling hopeless" phase...most people in Manhattan wait 12 months before getting an interview. How that's fair while people in other offices/states become citizens in <6 months is beyond my comprehension.

Hi @Vikingoutwest I applied from ND and I don’t have any update on my interview yet. My application estimated completion is June 2020 but as per other ND applicants, I might not get my interview notice until August 2020 because ND falls under MN but timeline is lot slower for ND applicants  when compared to MN applicants. Very disappointing but just waiting.

I am happy to see the progress with other applicants in this forum. Please pray that my application should get processed soon and I realize my dream of becoming a US citizen soon. Thanks!

I feel your pain....

I hope someday - won't happen under the current administration - that USCIS implements a national standardization system where most people are interviewed within a similar time frame regardless of what part of the country they live in. I really don't see how it's acceptable in any way that some people get interviews in 3 months and others are waiting >1 year, with the only distinguishing factor being their zip code. Yes, I understand there are case-specific factors that might complicate a given person's application, but in 90% of situations that is not what causes the gross discrepancy in wait times across field offices. But, sadly, "citizens to be" are not of much interest to the current political administration so the situation has been allowed to spiral out of control.

I totally agree with you. I wish atleast the ratio of officers vs applications was even across all locations. MN, ND, few locations from WI, SD all fall under MN office and there are not enough officers allotted clearly. It’s very disappointing that there is such a huge disparity when compared to other offices like Cleveland (4 to 7 months approx) to process a N400 application vs 11.5-17.5 months for MN which is not even accurate for ND and takes longer.

100% agree with you I applied in Minnesota 6 months ago and nothing happened, my friend applied a month later in Ohio now he is citizen.

Hi Hydigal,

Thank you for replying. UGH that is a frustrating timeline! I am sorry it is like that for you! I hope the timeline will be much shorter for you than it says right now!

Thanks @Vikingoutwest. I really hope so too. I checked the processing times on egov website today and it shows 11 months to 22 months to process N400 for MN (it was 11.5 months to 17.5months last week). I wish by some miracle my application gets processed within an year. Maybe too much to expect. Hate this unpredictability but no other option but to wait.
I am concerned about changing jobs because with changing address not sure how long it’ll take for my file to be moved to new office and I don’t want to sabotage my current situation :(

Wow! MN office is not even close in comparison.

I checked the processing times on egov website today and it shows 11 months to 22 months to process N400 for MN (it was 11.5 months to 17.5months last week). Since you applied from MN, your application should fall within normal time range (most of MN folks get interview notice within 8 months of application date). Good luck with your application.

What is the "estimated wait time" listed on the bottom of your USCIC profile?

My estimated wait time is 5 months. It changes on the 1st of every month usually. Estimated case completion shows June 2020. But this is not accurate for ND as per the trend. What about yours?

Estimated wait time: 3 months (has changed three times this month: went down to 2 months as per the usual count down at the start of the month.....then a few days later changed to 31 days....and then before Xmas changed to 3 months).....

Thank you for responding. Man, I am so sad that your office is so far behind and that the system is so ineffecient. It is completely unfair all around. I hope they do find some way of making the process smoother all over the country and create a standard timeframe for everyone. I hope the very best for your case!
