So you agree, government bloated bureaucracy is bad.

I was referring to corporate bloated bureaucracy in the health care industry, but are free to see what you want, I suppose.

If that is the case, then why talk about the Pentagon?  Btw, the NHS has more than 50% of its employees engaged in non-healthcare activities.  Seems inefficient to me, but I suppose when the country only has 66million people, they can waste a bit.

I thought Denmark is the happiest and Finland is like 5th? Can't imagine Finns being the happiest, they seem grumpy all the time... Though I shouldn't say anything. After my husband visited Sweden for the first time he said: for being one of the happiest countries in the world, Swedes don't smile much". So true.

Worth mentioning twice and I agree, the 2 sort of feed off each other.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I would guess in the US its higher than that. My dad was an ol country doctor.  Just 2 people in his office. Did everything from deliver babies to setting broken limbs. When we use to go the hospital in the town next door, vast majority of the staff was providing health care. Only about 4 gals in the biz office and a receptionist.

That is what it used to be in the UK.

The local surgery in CO, closed, but I was amazed how many were there, as far as I could tel I Doctor, 2 medical staff and 5 others in the office.

Quite possibly, but remember, the US does have five times the population.  Regardless, the healthcare systems around the world could all be more efficient, but as the OP topic shows, that can be detrimental to those that try to bring this about.

NHS is not good, but looks OK when compared to the US. I have a few more US horror stories, told to me by people  who I would not exect to hear it from.
