Biometrics Background check in USA: I-485 compare to N-400?

Hello. Are there any differences between Biometrics background check done at ASC (USA)?

 

I-485 and N-400 Biometrics fingerprinting are exactly identical?

So when someone applies for AOS (The background is checked from first day the beneficiary arrived in USA?) 

 

What about for N-400?  Is the background checked from the first day the beneficiary became a PR till present day? So nothing again is checked prior to the beneficiary becoming a PR?

Biometrics takes your fingerprints and provides your entire criminal history through the FBI's fingerprinting system who in turn provide it to USCIS.

 

As to which specific convictions are considered by USCIS as to which can be a problem for your naturalisation and which could not, that is entirely a matter for USCIS and their published criteria available here: https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume12-PartF-Chapter5.html

Criminal history, name checks, etc. prior to becoming a LPR can be looked into, yes, if that's your question.  The ease of doing so can sometimes be dependent on how openly shared that information is by the original country's authorities.  For example, the UK and Canada openly share immigration/border/criminal history with the USA, and vice-versa.  If the person previously applied for other types of US visas before becoming a LPR, that information/any CO notes are permanently in their immigration file and can be looked back upon as well.

 

Is there anything in particular you're worried about?  If so, share what's concerning you--- perhaps VJ members can help try determine whether your worries are detrimental to your future N400.

No differences, exactly the same and for same purpose. If there is any concern, let us know. If your background check was clear with AOS but before applying for N400 you committed a crime, then it will show up. Simple as that.
