MANILA, Philippines — Five more arrest warrants were served by Philippine authorities Tuesday against an American Catholic priest accused of molesting up to 50 altar boys.

According to media reports, the warrants were served to Father Kenneth Bernard Pius Hendricks at his cell in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City where he was being detained.

The 77-year-old priest was arrested in Biliran, Leyte before he was transferred to the detention facility of the Bureau of Immigration in Bicutan, Taguig City last December.

National Capital Region Police Office Director Guillermo Eleazar said the warrants served at around 11 a.m. were issued by the Biliran Regional Trial Court over acts of lasciviousness and child abuse charges.

Hendricks has been living in the Philippines for the past 37 years. The United States Embassy in Manila has been processing the revocation of his passport to facilitate his deportation to the United States, where he faces charges of illicit sex with a minor in a foreign country.

If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison.

And an attitude that is not willing to punish or prevent this behavior. I second the Filipino jail being preferable for his rehabilitation

Their policy of forbidding priests to not marry is a a big reason and contrary to what the bible teaches. People have sexual urges and having a policy of not marrying is unreasonable.

1 Timothy 4:3

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth"

Being forbidden to marry does not cause someone to develop sexual urges for young boys. These are predators pure and simple. They are drawn to what they do because of the proximity to their targeted victims. It won't stop until the church starts dealing with the issue from that perspective.

I agree, having a thing for young boys is sick. However priests are having sexual relationship with nuns and young girls. If the Church didn't have the restrictions on marriage, a married man could qualify as a priest and these inappropriate relationships with girls and nuns would be lessened.
