221 G after K1 Interview in Mumbai

Once your 221g was submitted, how long did it take for everyone's status to change back to "Ready?" I understand it varies, but just a general idea. They took his passport as well when he dropped off.

Tara I think it’s a good hint that they took his passport. Our Dropbox location didn’t ask for his passport . The status changed to Ready once they received all the documents . @Greenbaum, do you know why they take passports from some & not others after all the 221g docs are submitted ?

In some high fraud countries (Pakistan and Morocco in particular), passports are kept so that the applicant doesn't travel in the interim, requiring additional security checks.   I'm not sure if this is also the case for India.

It's been 5 weeks I didn't hear from embassy should I call them ?

Never been able to determine why some and why not others. I am assuming some embassies are trying to save costs and if the applicant doesn't respond to the 221(g) then their passport isn't sitting in the embassy, either collecting dust or having to have the expense of sending it back to the beneficiary. Just a guess.

@ujones Status is still AP, but shows it was updated today. To be honest with you all, I can't be sure about anything at this point. I swear I got my first gray hair from this whole thing!

Hello All,

 

We are in the same 221G situation - but we had multiple 221Gs ( Total - 4 )

 

Finally, last week we had to submit the 'Medical Exam' again because the validity is only 6 months and submitted the passport along with it to Mumbai consulate.

August 31st..Currently the status is "nonimmigrant visa" "Administrative Processing"
