   If the alligator has been fed and if there are no baby alligators in the way, it's relatively safe. Chimpanzee's are far more dangerous and unpredictable. Well, at least until they make moderator.

You are right , since it was in reply to my post I am assuming it was directed towards me, which as you pointed out is a TOS no no . You obviously understand what you did. But it's cool I dont offend easily

NB: Is it stupid? Sure.

 

But look at it this way, in the photos on the article the old folks seem happy to be doing an interesting activity and maybe they get to learn something about reptiles. In the Carolinas I took my husband to one of those reptile sanctuary places. I wouldn't get close but of course tons of people, including him, lined up to touch one with a handler. Gators are a lot more intelligent biologically than a human generally thinks of them. Kind of think of them like a shark of a swamp. I wouldn't consider a gator as being stupid and humans should have a fearful respect for them... they are certainly not pets or support animals, but a tame one could be useful in teaching, just as they are in zoos, sanctuaries, and other places like that.
