Will you contact Bank/ credit card company after becoming US citizens?

When becoming US citizen, you will do at least two things:1)passport,2)update with Social security office

 

do you also need to notify your bank/ credit card companies with your new citizenship status? The same as employer?

At my Oath Ceremony, there were people from the Social Security Office outside with applications for us to fill out to get the new SS card as we came out, so I just took care of it there.

 

I never notify my bank/credit card companies. What do I or they care?

 

I never notify my employer either, officially. By that I mean I never notified HR. I told my boss and my co-workers I had to take a day off to become a US citizen so they all knew. HR never knew. And I think about a year after that, HR did an employee verification thing where all employees had to fill out the I-9 again and show their work eligibility and I just showed them my US passport and that's it.

We plan to notify the Texas DPS when my wife naturalizes, so that she can renew her driver's license on-line......instead of having to make an appointment at their office.

I haven't bothered with the DMV yet.

But I did eventually phone my bank. Because they have my immigration status, country of citizenship, and alien number in my profile. And couldn't update it online, had to phone. So I did, eventually. I told them, they said congrats, I was surprised that they didn't ask for any details or proof. But I see they did indeed update it. One reason I bothered to actually phone them was because a year after I was added to the account they sent me a letter saying an audit showed they hadn't abided by federal rules regarding certain proofs they needed to see and would need to close the account if I didn't provide them asap. So I kinda didn't want to risk anything like that happening again, even if I don't know of a reason it would.
