No Lease with Landlord - What to show instead?

Hello,

 

Starting to gather the documents for our i-751 filing.

 

We don't have a lease with our landlord, but pay them month to month rent. So instead of a lease, what proof can we send with ROC?

 

We pay him with a paycheck from our joint bank account every month - so I guess I could print the check images for the past 2 years.

Will your landlord give a letter stating you both occupied the residence?  Copies of the checks will help.....along with other documents showing you both at the same address......

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Not a very responsive landlord. Always MIA.

 

We can show bank statements for the same address for the past ~2 years. We can show DL's from the same address. 2 years of Tax Returns from the same address.

Insurance documents?  Healthcare proxy statements?  Credit cards?

You should be okay with these (and other documents as mentioned)---I didn't have a lease either when doing the ROC, nor a statement from the landlord

And you can always state in your cover letter that you do NOT have a formal lease, and point them to your bank statements and checks instead.  Better to tell them it will NOT be included instead of them deciding it is "missing" and issue an RFE.
