Received a waiver at the time of GC so should i do citizenship myself or hire a lawyer?? [merged threads]

Hello,

At the time of my GC application i applied myself but received a waiver at the time of interview which stated "misrepresentation" the cause was that I travelled on visit visa to USA and applied for GC instead of my husband applying for spouse visa while i was in my country. Then i had to take the case to the lawyer who helped me with the waiver and cleared off my case. I received the GC or 10 years in march 2016. Keeping this in mind should I apply my citizenship with a lawyer or doing it myself should not be an issue. The concern is due to all of the above at the time of GC OR whatever happened at the time of GC is over and they will not look into all that. I am married to the same person and we have 2 kids together. Plz, clarify if applying myself can become an issue. Thanks

In supporting documents for N-400 application do I need to attach the following or take them to interview

1) Child support - my spouse pays it who is a citizen.  

2) my traffic fines cleared or not cleared

3) friends letters stating that they know me and see me here as a good person

intent is determined at the border so you must have said something somewhere along the way that made them think otherwise to require a waiver. regardless, thats neither here nor there at this point.

 

no you do not need an attorney to file for you. Youre here, have a greencard and are eligible for citizenship

They will look into it.

 

Part of adjudicating the N400 is for USCIS to make sure the initial green card was properly approved....most likely the IO will bring it up during your appointment, merely as a fact-checking exercise, and to confirm the info infront of them, and then move on with the rest of your interview.

Always a good idea to take with you to the interview anything you feel the IO should consider.  Whether it will be taken into consideration or not in your favor is subjective to the IO of course.

 

With the traffic fines---the most important part is to take proof of payment made since the IO will be more concerned about whether there are any outstanding fines (and may ask to see proof of payment).
