Entering the USA for first time with green card

My wife will be entering for the first time in a few days.  When she hands her X-rays and sealed packet to the immigration officer....will this be a long process?? I will be waiting for her outside and I’m trying to get a timeframe. Or is it a quick check by the officer and then a validation stamp and she’s on her way??

Speaking for myself and my wife, this process was about 15 minutes at the Juarez/El Paso office. Might be shorter or longer depending on the location.

It will be a very short time.....compared to the time you have been waiting for the visa........it took my wife about 90 minutes at DFW.

It shouldn’t be much different at an airport than it would be at a land border crossing. I think ours was around 15 minutes- once we got to the front of the line. Try typing POE and the name or call letters of your airport into the search bar at the top right. Other people may have written their stories and that should give you a better idea of what to expect, timeline-wise!

It will take as long as it takes.  There's no way to predict how long the line will be or whether she'll go to secondary inspection.  No way to know if her luggage will be searched.
