ADVICE REALLY NEEDED

I got married, and I'm applying for a work permit. I don't think they'll wait 90 days to process, is it possible to work on H-1B and then apply for a work permit after I join on pending H-1B amendment with a company or wait out the 90 days?

HIb is a work visa.

Thanks, Boiler. In full, I've been on a J-1 for a year then got a H-1B, but that company has gone under and not I'm in a position where I have been married to a USC but not sure which decision is smarter to make. Particularly, I want to know if I can submit the required documents (i-130, i-131, i-485, i-765, and i-864) while the H-1B amendment is processing. will this mess things up?

Well you have 4 to 6 months to wait for EAD so sounds like you are looking for a H1b transfer to another employer to cover the gap.

Yep, this is correct. A new employer can sponsor you for an H1B transfer.  Once you get the receipt for the transfer paperwork, you can start work immediately.
