I am hoping to get some clarification regarding the K1 Visa process after the consulate has received the approved petition. Apparently, the consulate received our information on October 4th and the case status shows "Ready" on the US Department of State website, however we still have not received the directive from the consulate. My fiance and I have already submitted the visa application and paid the fee, but are wondering if we should continue to wait for the email from the consulate or move forward with scheduling the interview and medical appointments, gathering the required documents, etc. while we wait. Any helpful information/tips you all are able to provide would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If you wait for the embassy, you'll be waiting forever!

If you email the embassy, they'll send you the email with the "packet" which gives you the directives to proceed.   I believe this packet is also on their website if you search for it and is possibly on the Nigerian portal here on VJ.

Go ahead and schedule and do your medical!

Follow @Unshakable Faith advice and to do that reference these documents for specific instructions. Also, email the Embassy with your intent to interview there and keep in mind that the calendar is normally only showing what is available to schedule. They only open one month at a time. If you can watch for cancelations and grab one of those when it becomes available.

Hi, can you or anyone trying to schedule an embassy interview in Nigeria notify us here if the dates become available as my fiance is trying to schedule an interview also.

Also, does anyone have a clue when interview dates might likely be available? Dumb question, I know right?

Just cant wait to have my partner with me.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I am definitely going to work on scheduling the appointment as soon as one becomes available. I wish I had known this sooner. My fiance actually saw a date available for November 26th, but we were concerned that scheduling the appointment before receiving the directive would cause an issue, so we decided to wait. We will just have to keep checking, and hopefully there will be available dates soon.

What’s I advise is for the beneficiary/petitioner to keep checking the website everyday , that way you will know when slot are open. It’s happened for December the moment they open December with 2day it was all booked. I know persons waiting to book too. I will communicate though if I hear anything.

Yes from what I gather, December is booked.  And my friend petition also expire January 2019, so I asked her to called the Embassy and was told they will open up interview slot before the petition expires.

Regarding petition expiring I heard the automatically extend it when there are no available appointment date.

I'm with you and would love to have an answer to this question myself. After all of the work and expenses to get here not being able to schedule an interview was a difficult surprise to us. Good luck!
