We were approved today! It was a very straightforward process. Make sure to get the solteria document. It wasn't listed anywhere as a requirement, but thanks to this forum we had it ready.

ok Im very veryy confused. So the NVC sent our case to the embassy on Tuesday 17, and for a while now on the ceac website it shows as READY. But I haven't received absolutely anything from the embassy. I called several times and they gave two different email addresses, I emailed them and haven't received anything back. Am i supposed to pay something before I get contacted? Am I supposed to do the online profile beforehand? Am I supposed to just wait until someone contacts me? Please help - I am crazy confused on the packet 3 and 4 and how Im supposed to get them...

I sent a PM regarding the P3 info.  The correct email is Panama-IVisas@state.gov

Do the D-160 ASAP. Today if possible.  Print it and take it to Banco General to pay the $265 fee for the interview.  Make sure that you scan the D-160 and the Banco General receipt.

You can also register on the Atlas website right now and select which Fletes Chavele location that you want to pick up your passport.  Print the confirmation page.  Scan this confirmation page as well.

After that, start working on getting the 6 passport photos that you will need.  They need to be 2inch x 2inch US style passport photos.  Ears must be visible.

Hello all-

I am somewhat new to this site. It is great to see all of these people going through the same process! My fiancee is currently in Panama City and I am in the US (we are both 24, we met in school).

I, the petitioner, received the email from the NVC saying the application has been forwarded to the Embassy on 03 SEP 2019. The CEAC website says "READY" but I haven't heard anything from the Embassy, not sure if this is a bad sign? i tried Greenbaum's trick for tracking DHL packages but it isn't working for me.

In the meantime, I am gathering from this thread that even before I receive instructions from the Embassy, we can do the following:

  • Complete the DS-160 and print/pdf confirmation page
  • Complete the i-134 and gather evidence (bank accounts, W-2's, IRS Transcripts)
  • Gather evidence for proof of relationship (photos, boarding passes, etc. similar to the i-129f)
  • Request police certificates
  • original birth certificate (does this need to be translated?)
  • original certificate of singleness (I saw this on AZbob's post, what is this?)

Am I missing anything? I know she can't schedule the medical exam until hearing from the Embassy with some sort of reference number or case number? I am hoping I hear from the Embassy soon, I emailed them today to inquire on the case status. Also a couple more questions:

  • Are you able to take the 2x2 passport style photo at the Embassy rather than bring your own? My fiancee is telling me she isn't sure where she could get one in Panama.
  • I am just confirming as the petitioner I don't have to be at the interview, correct? I am seeing a lot of people going to Panama around the time of their beneficiary's interview and just wanted to confirm.

Thank you, all! This thread is extremely helpful in navigating this super stressful process. Dios mio 😅

PM sent

Photos can be done at Farmacia Arrocha.  There is one near Via Espana that we used.  They have to be the "American Style" passport photos.

I would wait on the police certificate until you have the appointment date.  They are only good for 30 days.  It only takes 2 or 3 days for you to get one.

The singleness (certificado de soltera) is something that she has to get from the DIJ.  Basically, it's a statement from the government stating that she is single and able to marry.  My fiancée isn't Panamanian, so I didn't have to do this step.  There are others who can probably go into greater detail.

You don't have to attend the interview, but it helps. PM me if you have any questions or need suggestions for a cheap red eye flight.

Hey guys - a couple more questions specific to the i-134:

1. For the i-134 there is a part asks "Do you intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person in Part 2?" (the person in part 2 being the beneficiary). "If yes, indicate the exact nature and duration of the contributions you intend to make in Part. 7 Additional Information." Whether or not I plan on giving my fiancee "an allowance" or whatever or financial situation may be, I understand as far as the US Government is concerned, she is my responsibility. Is there a "best practice" in answering this question? For those of you who have had success so far, what did you put (obviously don't need your personal details)?

2. For supporting documents of the i-134, I plan on submitting: 2018 IRS Tax Transcript, 2018 W-2, 2 pay stubs from 2019, checking/savings account statements. I am seeing in the i-134 instructions something about a signed letter from a bank officer of total deposits and and current balance, do I actually need to get this? Not sure how I'd get a letter from my financial instituions especially if some are online.

FYI the bank letter was a bit of a nightmare for me. I am with Bank of America and they could not get the part about total deposits correct. They kept printing the same incorrect letter at least 7 times after many visits/phone calls/snail mail. It's what we wound up using, and I also just created my own statement with all my deposits, saved to pdf and printed. Be sure to have someone from the bank sign the letter as that doesn't seem to be customary.
