Hello!

I'm waiting for noa2 and planning ahead about documents I'll need for the interview in 3-4 months.

I'm Venezuelan but I live in Mexico, about the mexican police certificate I'm waiting for a few months before requesting one because I want it to be as recent as possible.

About the one from Venezuela, I left my country almost 2 years ago I haven't been back. I have a police certificate from November 2017, people say that if you have not being again in the country you don't need a new one (my case exactly) but I wanted to be sure and ask for a new one, the thing is that it's done online and you have to type to whom you want to address the document, well I've tried during 3 weeks to make it for "CONSULATE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN MEXICO" and they print what they want, now I have 3 police certificates, all are for US consulates but apparently the system choose a random country for each one, last one says Ecuador instead of Mexico.

Can I use these police certificates for the interview? It's REALLY hard to keep trying because they only admit one request per person WEEKLY and the website is half of the time unavailable.

Thanks a lot for your opinions.

Thanks a lot for your opinions.

1) For the Mexican police certificate, make sure you request it in a timely manner. Am not sure if Mexico is one of those people where people said it took about a month to receive it?

2) In regards to ur question about the Venezuela certificate - it depends. Nov 2017 is about a year out from when you might get your interview.
If you have an embassy that accepts reports within a year, then you are fine. If you have an embassy that accepts only 6 months, or anything less than a year, then you HAVE to get a new one.

Am not sure what your embassy has as its protocol. I think it's definitely best to get an answer from them directly or check with the Mexican forum here on VJ and see if anyone knows better.
I think your question really is going to depend on ur embassy specifics.
U don't want to get all the way down to ur interview and get stuck in AP for something like a police report.

Good luck!

Mexican police certificate takes one day, I already have one but is pretty old (more than 1 year) so I'm not worried about it.

I don't want to use the one from Nov 2017 because I'm sure it will be over a year by the time of the interview.

I do have 3 new police certificates just none of them are directed to the right consulate. I know most PC are not address to a person or institution in particular but this does, apart for that, is valid, it says I don't have any police records etc. So I think it must be a minor issue but wanted to be sure.

The embassy protocol is "a valid PC from every country you have ever lived for more than 6 months" so is not really clear.

I guess I'll have to wait to ask to the embassy because I'm far from the interview still. Thanks!

1.-These are very country-specific questions. Mexico is a high traffic area for US, especially Juarez. Somethings that are ok here might not be somewhere else. In your case, I am sure they see the special situation of Venezuela very often since there is a big Venezuelan community in Mexico, so first I would contact them, by email is the best and fastest way asking the specific question about the Venezuelan police certificate being addressed to a foreign consulate. The wonderful thing is, that you still have time since your interview is sometime in the future.

There are not many people responding in the Latin America group regarding these issues since every country is different and some under special circumstances.

2.-Mexican police certificate takes one day, I already have one but is pretty old (more than 1 year) so I'm not worried about it. - Yes, that is so. In Quintana Roo it is 2 days. Example: You apply on Tuesday before 11:00am, you get it on Thursday afternoon, after 2:00pm, these are the rules now, I got one less than a month ago.

I don't want to use the one from Nov 2017 because I'm sure it will be over a year by the time of the interview.

If it is a requirement in your case, this might work.  BOTH my certificates are not addressed to anyone in particular.

The embassy protocol is "a valid PC from every country you have ever lived for more than 6 months" so is not really clear. - Yes that is exactly so. Every country you have lived in over 6 months. If you have lived in VE and MX you need both. My Dominican PC was dated back from NOV 2017 since I haven't been back it was valid and readily accepted together with the Mexican one.

I guess I'll have to wait to ask to the embassy because I'm far from the interview still. Thanks! - Wish you success in the whole process. I know it takes a toll on each one of us and we want to be ready and going as fast as possible.  If you were recently approved, you have around 3 more months to go. This is the time it takes (currently) to secure an appointment in Juarez.

My question here is, why can’t she just take the new certified PC from Venezuela to the interview?  Thanks for an answer.

The PC from Venezuela is an automated online process that requires that she inputs the name of the organization to whom she is addressing the letter to. It happens to be, that every time she enters US consulate it takes a different location, except Juarez 😄

That is her challenge and the official site where you get it from will only allow for a certain amount of tries. Since she already has one, addressed to Ecuador, it is advised to ask the US consulate in Juarez if they will accept that one instead.

Some processes are difficult to accomplish for Venezuelan citizens right now. Renewing passports, getting official paperwork and small things that were once easy, are now a complication.  Luckily for them, they still have time and Daniela is taking action early to have everything ready.

It's not an option, the systems asks you to provide a name of a foreign institution.
